王忠肃公翱，字九皋，山西阳城人也。其为人刚正不阿，清廉自守，以忠直闻名于朝野。公初仕于明成祖朱棣之世，后历事仁宗、宣宗、英宗四朝，皆以清廉公正著称。
公在任期间，屡次直言进谏，不畏权贵。曾上疏言及朝廷冗员过多，建议裁减冗官，以节省国家开支。又言及边防事宜，主张加强边疆防御，以防外敌入侵。其奏疏多被采纳，为朝廷所重。
公尤重吏治，常言：“官者，民之表也，若官不廉，则民何以信？”故每至一地，必先整饬吏治，严惩贪腐，使地方风气为之一新。其治理之处，民风淳朴，百姓安居乐业，被誉为“清官典范”。
公虽位高权重，然家无余财。晚年退居乡里，仍以教化乡人为己任，设义学，授童蒙，培育后进。乡人感其德行，立碑纪念，以志不忘。

Wang Zhongsu Gong Ao, styled Jiugao, was from Yangcheng, Shanxi Province. He was known for his integrity and uprightness. He began his official career in the reign of Emperor Chengzu Zhu Di of the Ming Dynasty and served under Emperors Renzong, Xuanzong, and Yingzong, always praised for his honesty and fairness.
During his tenure, he often submitted memorials to offer candid advice without fear of authority. Once, he proposed reducing the number of redundant officials to cut down on national expenses. He also discussed frontier defense matters, advocating for strengthening border defenses to prevent foreign invasions. Many of his memorials were accepted by the court, earning him high regard.
He particularly emphasized governance, frequently stating: "Officials are the models for the people; if officials lack integrity, how can they earn trust?" Therefore, wherever he went, he would first rectify administrative corruption and severely punish graft, greatly improving local customs. The areas he governed saw a simple and honest folk, with people living in peace and prosperity, earning him the title of "model official."
Though holding a high position, he remained poor at home. In his later years after retiring to his hometown, he continued to take educating villagers as his duty, setting up charitable schools to teach children, nurturing future generations. The villagers, moved by his virtues, erected monuments to honor him, ensuring he would never be forgotten.
